Baby
Baby came to the SPCA with a litter of her pups as a result of an animal cruelty case. She was emaciated and very fearful of people. Current board member Pamela Owens visited Baby shortly after her arrival.
“She was very scared at the SPCA and would cower in the back of her kennel. I went in one day and spent several hours with her and within minutes she was in my lap giving me kisses. You could tell that all she wanted was for someone to love her but she just didn’t know how to accept it. I spoke with the ladies at the SPCA about fostering Baby because I felt that if she got out of the shelter that she could blossom and become a happy dog for once in her life.”
Pam took Baby home to foster and saw her flourish into a happy, healthy dog. “She was happy. She ran in my backyard for about an hour with my other dogs just playing and doing things she probably never got a chance to do in her life.” After several months of caring for Baby and seeking a new home for her, Pam realized that Baby had become an irreplaceable part of her family. Thanks to Pam for giving Baby the chance at a new, happy life!
Lyric the Deaf Pitbull
After nearly a year in the shelter, Lyric was frustrated and showed it with his behavior. One of our long-time supporters came to his rescue with a complete package from a local dog trainer. Once the video of his success as a well-mannered pooch hit Facebook, he soon found his forever-home!
Sampson the Saint Bernard
The legal system had ordered Sampson to be euthanized. The Winchester Board of Directors stepped in and hired a lawyer for Sampson who won his case in court, and soon after, a forever-home.
